Ava DuVernay Launches Project to Hold Police Accountable for Brutality
Will police be held accountable?
Director Ava DuVernay will shine the light on police brutality through her new initiative called Law Enforcement Accountability Project.
The initiative will hold police officers accountable when commit acts of brutality.
DuVernay tweeted, Officers who kill unarmed black people often get admin pay, another job, a life of anonymity. Their victims get eulogies. We have a blind spot as a society in agreeing not to speak these officer’s names. I do not agree to that anymore.
DuVernay told the Washington Post that footage of the death of George Floyd inspired to start the initiative.
In August, the first project by the initiative will be unveiled.
Do you think this initiative is a great start to help combat police brutality?
